Gathering at New Praise Ministries
On November 24, 2013 members of HELP joined with other pro-lifers at the New Praise Ministries located in the old Euclid Square Mall. Pastor Roscoe Heath hosted the gathering. He and Pastor Walter Moss of the Four Square Church in Canton gave some thought provoking insights regarding pro-life efforts in the African American community and the roadblocks they must face. Inspiring music, delicious refreshments and good camaraderie made for a most pleasant evening. |
Commemorating the Faithful Departed on All Soul's Day Members of HELP braved the rain and cold to be a Pro-Life witness in front of Ohio's largest provider of abortions - Preterm on Shaker Boulevard. We rejoiced in the knowledge that 435 babies have been saved so far during this 40 Days for Life Campaign; and pray that by our presence, many babies, men and women may be spared from a devastating decision. |
"America Needs Fatima" Rosary Rally on Chardon Square
At Fatima in 1917, Our Lady made it clear that the Rosary is the supernatural solution to our earthly problems. In “The Secret of the Rosary”, Saint Louis de Montfort states: “Public prayer is far more powerful than private prayer to appease the anger of God and call down His Mercy and Holy Mother Church, guided by the Holy Spirit, has always advocated public prayer in times of public tragedy and suffering.” So, once again, faithful Catholics from SS Helen, Lucy & Edward Parishes gathered together with St. Mary's to pray the rosary in public on a glorious autumn day, October 12, 2013. |
LIFE CHAIN 2013
Eighty-five faithful souls sought, through prayer and Christian witness, to be lights in a darkened world and to put an end to the holocaust of killing innocent children. On "Respect Life Sunday" October 6, 2013, members of HELP and Geauga Catholic Teens for Life and other Christians formed a peaceful and prayerful public LIFE CHAIN in Chesterland. Their presence provided passersby with a visual statement of Christian solidarity and that the Church supports the sanctity of human life from the moment of conception until the time of natural death.

White Cross Memorial Display
The Labor Day weekend display at St. Helen Parish is a message of life and healing to all those traveling to the Great Geauga County Fair. As a nation we were shocked by the images of 432 dead Syrian children as a result of chemical weapons. And yet, each day in our own country 144 innocent children are killed each hour of each day. It is said a picture is worth a thousand words. If you saw a picture of the 3456 babies that were killed by abortion yesterday, would it bring forth the same horror as the image of the 432? Would that finally be the thing that makes you join forces to end the slaughter of these young innocents? |
HELP Families Pray in Front of Abortuary
A dozen members of HELP and their families begin their First Saturdays with confession and Mass before going to pray outside one of Cleveland's abortuaries. They join with many others who come to give witness, and to pray for an end to the evil of abortion and for those involved in it in any way. Hearts that could have been broken were lifted by the knowledge that God is Good, Always!

The Sanctity of All Human Life Mass at St. Edward Chapel
The monthly Benediction, Mass and Rosary for Life takes place on the last Monday of the month. Members of HELP and their families are in attendance. This beautiful service allows us to beg God for His forgiveness and ask for His guidance to show us the way to help change the prevailing attitude by praying to Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament. Won't you join us next month? |
Prayer Witnessing Continues

Fortnight for Freedom Rally
The opening rally for the "Fortnight for Freedom" took place on Cleveland Public Square at noon on Friday, June 21, 2013 with members of HELP in attendance. The USCCB has encouraged Catholics across our country to enter into the period of the two weeks leading up to the Fourth of July with a strong focus on prayer, education and reflection on our final freedom, freedom of religion. The crowd listened to pastors, legislators, legal experts; picked up informative literature; and enjoyed the beautiful sunny day God provided.

Pro-Life Display Destroyed
Vandals destroyed HELP's pro-life display of 144 white crosses and banners in front of St. Helen Catholic Church in Newbury. The vandals struck sometime overnight June 10-11, 2013, doing about $500 worth of damage. The display was scheduled to be up from Mother's Day through Father's Day which coincided with HELP's annual Baby Bottles for Change fundraiser. As people from the sheriff's department and media outlets descended on the Church lawn, members of HELP were already making arrangements for replacement crosses to be brought to the crime scene as soon as the officers were finished gathering their evidence. Sadly, some of the monies from the fundraiser will now have to go towards the cost of replacing the damaged items which are part of this pro-life display that travels about Geauga county churches of various denominations. |
Mother Day Cards
Members of Geauga Catholic Teens For Life sold Mother Day cards to raise money for Maggie's Place. They received help from a future GCTFL member, nine-year-old Julian, who single-handedly was responsible for seeing the receipts soar to record levels. He thought that people were buying a lot of cards and giving him generous donations because the wind was blowing hard outside the Church, and he had to really struggle to keep the cards displayed on the table! |
Sunny and Eighty Degrees
Come on now! We're on the north coast. A couple of days of nice weather and we get suckered into thinking that Spring has finally arrived. We get a little careless. We don't wear our rain gear when we're out at an abortuary thinking that an umbrella will do the trick. And then, the skies open and the winds pick up and before we know it we're soaked from head to toe. We laugh it off, because at least it didn't snow! Nah, that's for another day. Besides, if it really were eighty degrees . . . . (Hey, we can dream can't we?)

Symposium and Exhibition 2013
Cleveland Right to Life held its fourth annual "Bringing America Back to Life Symposium" on March 8th & 9th, 2013 at the Embassy Suites in Independence. HELP was chosen by the Cleveland Right to Life Governing Board as an organization that has done much to promote the sanctity of life. We were so honored by this designation, and thankful to the generous donor who afforded us the opportunity to meet many world renowned experts. We had such a great time gathering information and ideas from the symposium sessions, the numerous exhibitors, bestselling authors and from fellow pro-life attendees. |
GCTFL at FPANEO - Painesville, OH Geauga Catholic Teens for Life and their chaperones braved another freezing north coast Saturday to provide a prayerful presence around Family Planning Association of Northeast Ohio's offices in Painesville on March 2, 2013. It is so encouraging to see how fervent is their belief in the sanctity of all life. They are truly awe-inspiring! |
South Russell Medical Center, the New Home of FPANEO in Geauga County -People from many churches and many denominations gathered together to show their support for life - all life - born and unborn alike. They prayed that all those involved with abortion in any form may have a conversion of heart and that God will lead them to His loving and merciful heart.

Pastors Walter Moss & Roscoe Heath
The pastors were joined by members of HELP outside the PRETERM abortion mill on Thursday, February 28, 2013. This particular site alone is responsible for the deaths of thousands of African-American babies each year.

40 Days at FPANEO Painesville, OH
Brrrrrr! Our first day out in Painesville reminded us of just how cold that wind can be when it comes whipping around the building. (Some of us took periodic refuge in our cars while reminding ourselves to dress like "Nanuck of the North" the next time.) However, this didn't keep us from standing along the sidewalk, holding our signs, praying and asking God for the strength, courage, wisdom, determination and stamina to carry out this mission according to His will. |
The 40 Days for Life Spring Campaign Kick-Off Rally2013
Perfect Peace Church on Shaker Blvd. hosted the kick-off rally. Among the evening's speakers, Pastor Walter Moss of The foursquare Church in Canton, OH, and Tom Raddell of LifeLink Ministries gave very thought-provoking talks. Inspired to put on the Armor of God in this spiritual battle, attendees were able to pick up some Pro-Life literature, signage, or clothing before going on their way. |
Knights of Columbus Pro-Life Dinner 2013 The annual K of C Dinner was held at St. Helen on Saturday, February 9, 2013. Pro-life advocates from HELP's cluster parishes, other area churches, and members from Geauga Catholic Teens for Life were treated to a delicious roast beef dinner. The evening's guest speaker was Marcus Grodi from EWTN's "Journey Home Network." Mr. Grodi, from Dresden, OH, gave a wonderful talk about the part pro-life beliefs had in his "journey home" to the Catholic Church. {And, yes, he is taller, thinner and even better looking than he appears on TV.} Besides the dinner and talk, there were several displays for attendees to peruse as well as an opportunity to sign-up for the March for Life Spring Campaign which begins on Ash Wednesday, February 13th. |
40th Annual March for Life, Washington, DC Despite the temperature being only 23 degrees, the cause drew 650,000+ pro-lifers to take part in the 40th annual March for Life. Members of HELP, Geauga Catholic Teens For Life, LifeTeen and chaperones made the journey from Ohio to DC. Father Jay from St. Helen Parish flew in to join our groups and to concelebrate the Youth Mass at the Comcast Center. Attending the liturgies in the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception and at the Comcast Center truly inspired us. But words cannot convey the feeling of being a part of the March itself. To see so many people who believe as we do in the sanctity of life really energized us and strenghthened us to continue our commitment at home. |
Lake Co. Right to Life Annual Justice March for Preborn Children On Sunday, January 13, 2013, a hundred people gathered at the NE corner of Great Lakes Mall in Mentor, Ohio and marched the mile and a half to St. Mary of the Assumption School. Members of HELP marched in the lovely warm weather, then joined those people gathered inside the gymnasium, who could not physically march the route. There they had the opportunity to partake of some refreshments, to visit displays by local pro-life groups and to hear guest speakers: Pastor Roscoe Heath, Brenda Mack, and Pastor Walter Moss. Their inspirational talks told of the devastating impact a 40% abortion rate has on the Black community. |
